Matthew 28:19,20 tells us, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  Some of the disciples were doubtful when they came to worship Jesus prior to His ascension.  So the master took time to challenge them to do what He had commanded them.

 1. The first thing He instructed them to do was to go out into the world. Why? Jesus wanted new disciples from all nations. For us at Knox, we must follow wherever the Holy Spirit leads. Each of us are given careful directions as we prayerfully seek to do the will of God each day. Therefore, it is critical for us to listen and discern where Jesus wants His servants to go.

2. The second thing Christ clearly states is we are to teach others all that Jesus has commanded. That means that we must immerse ourselves daily into the reading of Scripture. It is not easy to know all the things that our Master has taught us. So I recommend that each of us get in the habit of reading the gospels over and over again. Repetition is the life long journey (one of my favorite words) Jesus sends His disciples on.

3. The third thing Christ does is to promise He is with us always. How does this help us be better disciples? It is a great reminder that we are never alone when seeking to make the Good News known to others. What a comfort to know that Jesus will never leave or forsake us. Our strength comes from trusting and relying upon a faithful teacher.

So let Knox Church seek to take the name of Jesus with us out into the world!

Fred Daniels

Called to Greatness

Hello Friends at Knox Church,

Thirty years ago, Jayhawker Campus Ministry starts at the University of Kansas. It’s DNA and focus is making disciples within the local church. Today, under the name of Called to Greatness, it’s grown to be on six campuses, with four church plants. Sending out thousands of changed lives from its wake. Celebrate and believe with us for 30 more years of ministry and transformation for our future leaders. Thank you for being a part of this movement!

It’s two weeks till classes wrap up. Can God really move in someone’s life in two weeks? Yes, He can! Meet Gilbert from Shawnee, Kansas. I met him after outreach while we were going out and sharing the gospel. He has heard of the gospel, but has been wanting more for his life than solely going to church. He then came to the campus meeting later that evening. You and I both know there is no such things as coincidences. The Holy Spirit prompted me to tell him about our summer work/study program, Ecclesia, over the summer. Get this, he wants to come. Praise God for doing the heavy lifting and moving so quickly in Gilbert!

Friends at Knox Church, the prayer Warriors:

The Called-out Ones, or Ecclesia will be starting June 7! We will be taking a deep-dive on Liberty’s genesis within Christendom, how liberty arrived here today, and what we do now. Pray for lots of people to attend, and for our students to not let their faith get flabby over this summer!

For His Kingdom,
S. J. Rosenak

Kansas City CRU

Known as the “Pink City”, Toulouse is the 4th largest city in France and home to 130,000 college students! It is nestled in the Southwestern part of France and is a couple hours from the Mediterranean Sea, the Spanish border, the Pyrenees mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.

We are excited to spend 3 weeks (from May 23-June 15) in this city as part of the Toulouse Summer Mission! Our team of 8 students and 8 staff members will spend the majority of our time in spiritual conversations on 3 campuses engaging the largely atheistic and agnostic but spiritually curious students of Toulouse. We will also encourage students’ personal spiritual growth through men’s and women’s Bible studies and meeting individually with staff! We will finish our time in France by traveling to Paris for one week to partner with Bridges, a campus ministry of Cru reaching out to international students. We can’t wait to see what the Lord will do while in France! Thank you for your partnership with us!

To give a special gift towards our summer mission, please go to our personal giving page with Cru, https://give.cru.org/0635010. You can also text “Dylan Sullivan” or “Leslie Sullivan” to 71326 and receive a link to set up your gift on your phone! Thank you so much!

With Love,

The Sullivans

Prayer & Praise

  • Praise the Lord for His leading and the opportunity to minister in France!

  • Please pray for the students that are coming with us-to have courage and open hearts as they experience a new culture!

  • Pray that God would be working in all the details of our trip (flights, health, etc.) and that our kids would learn more fully about God’s heart for the world!

Overland Park Orchestra

We really appreciate Knox supporting the Overland Park Orchestra but we are trying a different venue for our next concert on May 7. We will be in Polsky Theatre at JCCC.

Thanks for your support and the use of the Sanctuary for our previous concerts! Hopefully, we can return to Knox during our fall season.

Thanks so much for the supplies for the prom bags! Thanks also to the neighborhood group that sorted and organized. We had enough supplies to provide for all the requested prom bags and dopp kits for the KCK students. AND, because of your generosity, we got enough supplies to provide for Mother’s Day bags to go with the food distribution boxes. We have a few more items coming and then we’ll have the final total.
Thanks so much as we continue to serve this economically deprived community!

Navigators

Dear Friends,
Thank you for your faithful support of The Navigators. God is Working through Navigators to transform lives near and far.
When “Amari” was seven years old, his family moved from Ethiopia to the Atlanta area. They made their home in a diverse neighborhood with many refugees and worshipped in an Ethiopian church. As a college student, Amari grew in his faith through the Navigators Collegiate ministry at University of Georgia. Then he participated in a Navigators Discipling for Development training program in Atlanta. This training helped him see how whole-life discipleship could transform lives for those with physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
After completing his training and serving among Ethiopians in Atlanta, Amari felt called to go to Ethiopia to bring the hope of Jesus to people on the margins in his country of origin. He connected with Navigators in Ethiopia and continues to be mentored from a distance by Navigators in Atlanta.
God is at work among faithful disciples who serve people in their neighborhoods, campuses, and across the globe. Your gifts provide support for equipping disciplemakers like Amari to keep sharing the Good News.
Thank you for your faithfulness!
Gratefully,
Andrew Ginsberg, Senior Vice President

May is a great month to celebrate some special people.  Many of us have mothers who have gone to be in the presence of our everlasting God.  On May 8th, thank our Lord for three things about your mother that you truly treasure.  My mom was a people person (what a shock), she always had pretty flowers around the house, and Betty loved to celebrate with others on special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, holidays).  If your mother is still living, then try to make a gift for her that you think she might enjoy!  Include a card with scripture and maybe a personal prayer added.

May also reminds us that there are young adults graduating from high school and college.  Pray for them as they seek to discern God’s wisdom for their future endeavors.  Share with any church graduates what spiritual  gifts you have observed in their character and any things you can thank them for personally.  Maybe God is calling you to mentor and encourage someone who is starting to live on their own.  Remind graduates as they move ahead to new challenges that they always represent Jesus Christ through their lives.

Great news is that the Pawnee Elementary end-of-year carnival is back and will be on May 6! In the past the carnival was a fundraiser but this year it will be a free community event. The PTA would love for all games and stations to be run by volunteers so parents and guardians can spend the evening with their kids having fun. If you are able, please share this sign-up with people you know who may be able to volunteer. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d48a8a62caaf5c34-carnival

Many of us are aware of what our church Mission is: to reach the unchurched, teach and care for those in our community & the world, equip the saints for ministry, and send them out to minister.  In the January Session meeting I urged the church to focus on fulfilling our Mission in all things we seek to do in 2022.  Currently, I have been teaching a class on how the Holy Spirit can and does work in the lives of God’s people.  In my heart I sensed the Holy Spirit wanting us to be guided by the Mission we had created. Now I have a first- hand report that our youth at Knox helped to keep us Mission focused during their spring break.

On March 12, Pastor Tim had us come forward before the congregation and commissioned our work in Little Rock to be God honoring.  During those six days we spent together, we attempted to show the love of God to one another and minister in a new culture to those in need.  There was a lot of prayer offered for us by Knox church.  We needed the prayers to accomplish what Jesus had set before us.  Our youth were taking on tasks that they had never attempted in their lives.  Was it always easy to be patient with each other?  I think we know the answer to that question.

May we learn from that trip to continue to pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17).  That is how the good news of the gospel will come to be known wherever God leads us!

Thank you for helping us break the cycle of domestic violence and create safe futures. Your gift of $500 makes our life-saving work possible.
As we continue to be here for survivors, both behind our shelter walls and throughout the community, we are incredibly grateful for your kindness. Because of you, thousands of individuals who seek to create a safe future away from domestic violence, find the support they need. And while we dream of a day when our services are no longer needed, we count it a privilege to still be here providing emergency safety, permanent housing, supportive services, and more for survivors and their children.
Thank you for the gifts of safety you provide each and every day. With your help and your voices, survivors of domestic violence will have a bright and safe future.

Sincerely,
Lisa Fleming

Greetings,
Words alone cannot represent our thanksgiving for your kind and generous support of The Good Samaritan Program. But we want to thank you on behalf of the residents, staff, and resident families for your recent gift. Each day, the continued health, happiness and well-being of all our Aberdeen Village residents will serve as further expression of our gratitude for Good Samaritans like you.
Once again, thank you for your desire to support the Good Samaritan Program and the meaningful role you have in our mission.

Called to Greatness

Hello,

Financial Peace University is in session! The 13-person class filled with college students and community members is being weighed down with $309,000 in total non-mortgage debt! We are revisiting in early April to see how much of it we can clean up together. Pray big prayers for this group!
I met this guy named Steve (to give anonymity) on campus who’s from the middle east. I asked him if he has any real friends from America and he said he didn’t. Then a week later I met this guy who goes by Mike. Mike is the only undergraduate at K.U. from Uzbekistan! He played on their National Men’s soccer team and he wants to make a life for himself here. Believe with me for bridges to be built with these two men! Excited for the new beginnings and inroads for the gospel to their home countries.

Prayer Requests:

We’re going to Tennessee for our Spring Missions Trip! We are partnering with Every Nation, a Campus Ministry at Austin Peay University, in sharing the gospel and creating connections with college students. We will also connect local families in the underprivileged areas nearby Bethel Church. We are believing big to help struggling families get connected to Bethel to get the help they need!

Pray for favor with Mike and Steve as I get to know them. They are both Muslim. Believe for open hearts and open schedules!

For His Kingdom,

S.J. Rosenak
