Free Stylin' with Fred

Recently, I have learned of the deaths of two friends of mine; Phil Senger and Fred Sivyer.  These men both spoke to my heart in their unique ways.  It is as if God used both of them to show me the value of leaving our legacy with others.  Phil, through his kindness and concern for others, brought many friends willing to testify how he greatly blessed their lives.  He did it by his actions (often gifts he shared) and caring words spoken at just the right time.  I knew Phil and his family many years ago while serving as their pastor in Excelsior Springs, MO.  Fred Sivyer was one of the first men I met at Knox.  Why?  Because it was very important to meet all the Freds who seemed to be attracted to the Knox family.  Fred, as many know, was a charter member at Knox.  He brought lots of love and dedication to the early years of our existence.  So, I know firsthand that these two men left some very positive legacies behind.

Recently in our SS class, I remarked that all disciples of Jesus are leaving their legacies.  Sometimes, our witness for Christ is not really very good.  But if daily we decide and purpose in our hearts to be available for Kingdom building, then I know according to scripture that God truly will use us!  So let’s join together in making Jesus our Messiah known to our spheres of influence.
