Freestylin with Fred

Today I was out early in the morning watering my yard.  As I went to the west side of the house, I found a box turtle who seemed in a hurry (no pun intended).  Next I went inside to let my daughter’s dog into the back yard.  Maizy soon discovered the turtle had invaded her territory.  She followed the turtle, while occasionally barking at the poor thing.  I continued to water the plants.  When done, I couldn’t find the turtle.  Then I looked down into our basement window well.  What do you think I discovered?  Two of them and one was a snapping turtle!

So what was Fred to do with this dilemma?  They could not easily get out of the egress window well, so I decided to take them to our neighborhood creek.  I took the box turtle out first and placed him into my car.  I returned to get the snapping turtle.  But it hissed at me and showed me his powerful jaws.  I was determined to not show any fear, so I swiftly picked the turtle up and placed him in the car next to his buddy.  Then I took them to the creek and deposited them in their more natural habitat.

Moral of the story – Sometimes life has the potential to ‘snap at us’.  We can choose to back away from any solution that might cause us to be fearful, or just cast our fears and burdens at the feet of Jesus.  We can allow Him to guide us into making the correct choice and placing trust in the One who guides our footsteps each day.

Paul Grant had us read Matthew 6:25-34 in our staff meeting.  It is an excellent reminder of how we can deal with the worries of life.  Please take time to read this excellent passage and meditate on the words of Jesus!
