Knox Hosts IHN

IHN is changing much like everything else in our world.  Covid has created a host of problems for IHN as many of the churches find it too difficult to use their facility to house the guests.  As a result New Haven Seventh Day Adventist Church at 87th & Antioch has agreed to use their facility to house IHN guests for the remainder of 2020.  All other churches will continue to support the guests for their regular host week by supplying volunteers, meals and food at New Haven.  Knox will "host" Sept 13-20.  Masks will be required for everyone and guests will be in their rooms only.  One requirement being made by the Adventist Church is that if there is not a male guest, we must provide at least one female in all volunteer positions.  At this time we have 1 single lady, a single mom with 2 children (5 & almost 2) and a mom and dad with one child (3).  So we can have male volunteers if the census remains the same.  The guests will be at the Family Center on Tuesday evenings and not arrive at the church until 9:00.

There will be no set up or take down.  There will be no laundry.  Guests will be required to do that on their own at the Family Center.

For Tuesday dinner the guests will be given McDonald's gift cards as a little treat.  If anyone would like to donate $10 gift cards, please let me know.

Vicki has given us permission to have only one volunteer in each of the positions.  But I would like to find 2 people because it is a much easier evening or overnight if there are 2 of each. Also the LDS church has agreed to cover all of the slots for Mon, Wed, Thur, & Fri, so we don't have too many to fill.

Knox will need the following positions filled:

Sunday Sept 13th:  Dinner 1-2 volunteers,    Evening Host 1-2 volunteers,      Overnight 1-2 volunteers

Tuesday Sept 15th:          Overnight 1-2 volunteers

Saturday Sept 19th:  Dinner 1-2 volunteers,   Evening Host 1-2 volunteers,     Overnight 1-2 volunteers

I will have a lot more information to give to those who volunteer.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at sandbbang@gmail.com or call 766-0298 at home & 439-7722 on my cell.
